Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is a world-famous coastal city in southern Croatia, situated on the Adriatic Sea near the border with Montenegro. Often called the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” it is best known for its exceptionally well-preserved medieval Old Town, surrounded by massive defensive stone walls that date back to the 13th–16th centuries.

The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features a dense network of marble-paved streets, baroque churches, palaces, and historic squares. Key landmarks include the Stradun (main street), Rector’s Palace, Sponza Palace, and the Cathedral of the Assumption. The city’s fortifications, especially the City Walls and Lovrijenac Fortress, offer panoramic views over the Adriatic and the terracotta rooftops.

Beyond its historical significance, Dubrovnik is also a major tourism hub, known for its clear waters, nearby beaches, and island excursions such as Lokrum and the Elaphiti Islands. In recent years, it has gained global recognition as a filming location for major productions, further increasing its international popularity.

Despite its relatively small size, Dubrovnik combines rich history, dramatic coastal scenery, and a strong cultural identity, making it one of the most iconic destinations in the Mediterranean.
